10 Essential Strategies to Build Wealth in Your Working Years
My first book,“How to Be a Financial Grownup,'' is for young people who aren’t learning enough about personal finance in school and want to be prepared as they enter adult life.
And my second, “Launching Financial Grownups,” is for their parents, because parents are key stakeholders and can play an important role in setting the next generation up for success in their adult financial life.
But I’ve discovered a key life stage that often gets ignored: The choices we make during our primary working years, and at work.
Work is where we make some of our biggest financial decisions, but often without much thought. We’re busy and we tend to rush through decisions and never look back. Mistakes compound and cost us.
This is the inspiration for my third book, “Financial Wellness @Work.”
The stakes are high for workers, but also for employers. Companies that take an active and strategic role in financial wellness for their workers see a boost in productivity, retention and overall results.
IMPORTANT STATS:
97% of employers feel responsible for employee financial wellness, with 91% seeing higher employee satisfaction when offering resources to manage overall well-being. (Bank of America)
74% of employees want personalized guidance to help navigate financial decisions, crises or life events. (PWC)
Most financial wellness products and services have usage rates below 20% among eligible participants. (Cerulli Associates)
